Curveballs, The Secret, Tummy Scratchings and Silver Linings
Well it's been an interesting week in the Beecroft residence! One of those weeks that makes you remember that life is gonna throw new things at you no matter what you have planned.
To cut a looooong story short, Mr Wonderful and I had been planning to flit off to the UK for a bit after the wedding so he could do his sports thang and I could do some writing for publications back home. A week and a bit after the big day though things hit an unexpected snag, which has meant putting those plans on hold.
Currently the seriously cute happy-housewife inspired blackboard in our kitchen reads 'There is always a silver lining'. For the most part the eternal optimist in me does think that everything happens for a reason, and that eventually everything balances out. So the silver lining I'm focusing on at the moment is that taking the big step to become a fulltime freelancer, while not entirely playing out in the way I'd imagined, is working out in the way the universe foresees to be the best path.
If that sounds a little airy fairy I'm happy to admit that optimism, humour and chocolate are my favourite coping mechanisms. AND I am about to re-read The Secret, so am starting to adjust my thinking in preparation.
Aside from the curveball, married life is fabulous, I actually have been quite productive in managing the freelance work I already have lined up, and am LOVING working from home and seeing my bar-man, shift-working man beast a bunch more.
I think our pooch Alfie is most pleased with all the new changes though. He gets to hang out with his mum all day while she emails, makes phone calls and writes. And I have to admit... I think I have as much fun getting to play fetch and give tummy scratches during my breaks as he does.
