Tried & Tested: Sunscreens

With summer well and truly underway, what better time to test out some of the sunscreens out there? Some of us are lucky enough to be able to wear the same sunblock on both our face and body, but other slynkey girls like me need to use a dedicated facial sunscreen tailored to their skin's needs.

So I tried and tested a wee selection, Here's what I found:

Hissyfit Saving Face moisturising tinted sunscreen SPF 30+
30g, $69.00

The Hissyfit brand is fairly new on the block, but it's already made a name for itself with its unique teal and brown packaging and clever product names.  Saving Face (pictured on the right) comes in a cute squeezy tube and contains pomegranate and green tea.  It's a super dry lotion - barely a moisturiser, and definitely the least greasy sunblock ever. This makes a cinch to apply: just rub in and wait a few seconds for it to absorb. I'd recommend wearing it over a regular moisturiser. I have the clear version, but there are also tinted varieties in seven shades. At $69 RRP it's on the pricey side but is a god-send for oily skin, not to mention the extra high SPF factor!

Nivea Visage Q10 plus day cream with SPF15
50ml, $22.95
This is a rich and creamy formula -  classic Nivea, through and though. Be warned, it does leave you a little shiny, although if you've got normal to dry skin, you'll probably find this delivers the healthy glow you want. The cream soaks in fairly quickly, leaving skin soft to the touch. Personally, I prefer moisturisers which come as tubes or bottles. This one comes in a pot with screw-top lid, so make sure you take care not to introduce sand or other nasties into it!

Evolu Moisturising Day Cream SPF 15
75ml, $47.00

For those who prefer more natural ingredients in their skincare, this Evolu day cream could be an option. Texture wise it was too runny for my liking, but it is nice and light and doesn't weigh you down. It smells clean and fresh (almost like lemongrass) and contains pure New Zealand springwater, as well as chamomile, kiwifruit and sweet almond. Suitable for everyday use on all skin types.
