Summer Hair trends and Goldwell Products

Auckland hair colourist Paul Geronimo represented New Zealand recently at a major international competition in Las Vegas in October after winning the top national award in the Goldwell Trend Zoom Challenge 2009.

Paul, a senior stylist at Atelier Hair in Remuera, won the award of Creative Colorist with his striking blend of urban chic and earthy nature. Paul's winning 'Ecopolitan' design (pictured right) combines intense shades of gold and rose in a total package of hair, clothing and make-up.

Here's what Paul thinks will be hot this Summer:

Colour trends this summer are all about looking natural: Delicate sunlightened hair, washes of gold in matte bases, multidimensional browns cut through with burnt caramels, and beige bases fading into clear blond ends.

In cuts, both sharp lines and soft layers are mixed to create a relaxed style. either go long or short if you want to make a statement!

Waves are big this summer. To achieve effortless beachy waves, grab a diffuser (the spiky thing that comes with your hair dryer) and spray your hair with seasalt spray. Twist big sections and dry gently, until about 80% dry. To dress up this look, blowdry the top section with a medium-sized round brush. Finish off this look with a matte texturiser for a messy fuller look. For a shinier finish use an antifrizz serum or gloss spray.
