Behind the Scenes @ Thin Lizzy

Ever wondered what happens behind the scenes of the commercials you see on the TV? Recently I was involved in a television commercial for a very beloved makeup brand of mine and so many other New Zealand women...Thin Lizzy!

I am going to take you slynkey girls behind the scenes of the latest commercial to grace our small screens to show you how we "made up, with Thin Lizzy!"

Thin Lizzy 6-in-1 Professional Powder has been a longtime favourite item in my cosmetic case. I can honestly say that I use this product as a bronzer, contour, eyeshadow, lipgloss, and all over body bronzer. I am never without my 6-in-1! So when I was asked to take part in the shooting of the next commercial I was very excited to stand behind a product that always delivers.

My call time was set for 7am, so after a quick shower and brush of the hair I was up and ready to leave my Auckland apartment and arrive on set fresh faced for the day ahead. I have always said that the greenroom is where the party's at, and this shoot proved to be no different.

Just to clarify, our greenroom was not literally green - it is a name given to the public waiting area for the models, actors, etc when not required on set. For this shoot we shared the room with an incredibly talented Make-Up Artist, Hair Stylist and Wardrobe Stylist drinking coffee, talking and sharing beauty and fashion secrets.

After many hours spent rotating between hair, makeup and styling our first call came to the set to begin shooting. Once on set I saw just how much accuracy and professionalism is needed in creating the perfect lighting and sound and the special equipment necessary to put everything together. What looks like a large, spacious bathroom soon shrinks in size when it is housing numerous crew working behind the scenes, and secretly, I can tell you it felt like a sauna in there because of body heat!

What you don't see in the finished product of any commercial is the crew who work tirelessly to make it all happen or the hours and hard work that it takes to get the polished advert at the end of the day.
