Homemade Protein Bars
At my store Supplements.co.nz we sell a variety of protein bars that can be added as a snack to your daily menu. Protein bars are a good choice as a replacement for the 3pm Mars Bar from the vending machine slynkey girls!
Why would you want protein you might ask? Well protein is great as it keeps you full, provides nutrients for recovery, is good for your hair, skin and nails and helps keep munchies away by keeping blood sugar levels stable.
There are all varieties of bars out today such as low carbohydrate, natural muesli type bars, balanced bars which combine both protein and carbohydrate (which can be great as a pre or post workout snack), or high energy bars which are ideal for endurance sports or putting in your pack for a hike.
I call bars my emergency food. I always have one in my bag and in my car so if I am a) stuck in traffic and completely starving or b) maybe at a function for work or travelling on a long trip where the options are slim, I can fill the void with a quick snack.
Some of my personal favourites include Interactive Low Carb Chocolate Fudge Delight Bars, Proactive Go Slim Bars and Balance Muscle 2Go Toffee Fudge (I eat half of one of the Balance bars per serve). There are even Protein Cookies you may have seen around that are a nice little treat, the raspberry and white chocolate is divine and the new breakfast cookie is nice for my sweet tooth.
I also have a recipe using my favourite protein Allmax Allwhey if you want to try making some bars at home.

It is hard to say specifics about anything - gender, size, current conditioning, metabolism, health are all factors as to how much you should eat. To get specifics you need to go to a doctor or a nutritionist. As a general comment most of the research by leading nutritionists shows eggs as a winner - what me and my husband do is have one whole egg and then add in a few whites. This is yummy. I add in spinach, chopped tomatoes and some olives. It is also a very filling breakfast.
Again portion size depends on all those factors above. A general guideline is to have a piece of protein the size of your hand, a carb the size of a tennis ball and a tsp to a tbsp of good fat and lots of good veggies.
Sadly there is no way to specifically spot reduce. However a combo of cardio and strength training will blast your fat overall and create a toned, lean look. For arms I suggest dips, tricep pushups and assisted pull ups.
For hips, bum etc - lunges (reverse and side ways as well), hip pops, swiss ball leg curls, dumbbell squats. Also add whatever cardio you enjoy doing to burn fat. On our site forum we also have sections specifically dedicated to training, programs and questions - as well as exercise videos posted so feel free to have a look

I would have it as one serve if it was my breakfast, or two serves as little snacks.
My suggestions would be to have little snacks every 3 hours that include some form of lean protein - shakes, chicken, tuna, tofu, fish lean meat, eggs, some healthy fats (fish oil, avacado, flax, nuts, nut butter etc) and some healthy veggies, fruits and carbohydrates (quinoa, oats, sweet potato, pumpkin etc). Drink lots of water. Supplements that work well for weight managment are low carb shakes and bars, fish oil, flaxseed oil, green tea, cla, and carnitine. I like a product called Allmax Rapidcuts Femme. I use Balance Liquid Carnitine and Allmax CLA.
Hope this helps.
