As you know, boys and girls think very differently. We can do a million things at once but boys are not so good at doing even 2 things at once... Right? :)
At my work, we have 22 staff: 14 girls and 8 boys. It is quite rare to have male stylists. We do similar stuff like cut, colour and style hair but everyone has a different style of doing things. I noticed that boys have very different ideas about things we love!
So I asked 2 male members of staff: James and Luke for..."Boy's Honest Opinions on Girls hair" - BHOG! It's so interesting and funny what they said - you have to read this!
We girls love...
Blunt fringes(bangs):
James: I talk to eye to eye. A fringe can be nice. But don't hide behind it.
Luke: Side fringe is better
Hair pieces/pins, bands:
James: Don't try too hard with hair pieces. Don't mind the odd bandana. but hell no too the gypsy bans!
Luke: I like it more natural look.a few clips are OK.
Straight hair:
James: Not Flat.. has to be soft looking.
Luke: Don't like the flat flat look. Every now and then is OK.
Centre parts:
James: If it is with a fringe. A side part is better.
Luke: A side part is to me more feminine, I like soft side fringes.
Blondes:
James: Dark hair has warmness to it.
Luke: Blonde is too trashy! Dark hair doesn't look so stupid.
Messy bed head:
James: Casual messy is cool. Don't be too tidy look either.
Luke: I prefer more sophisticated clean look.
Hair Ups:
James: DOWN!
Luke: I like more natural looks. I don't mind the hair ups.
Ummmm....many negative comments on things we love! I thought they were on our side because they are in the hairdressing industry, but these two know what they like! (Maybe that's what they want - Both are single you see...)
Regrowth:
James: Get a semi permanent colour!
Luke: Only if she suits it or if its part of the look.
Cleanness:
James: Has to be clean of course!
Luke: Of course! it has to be nice to touch.
Split ends:
James: Eww gross! Too be honest I cant really tell but healthy hair does look better!
Luke: No Way!
Wow, Boys are really watching. I thought boys didn't realize when we have hair done and stuff but Gen Y boys have a good eye on the girls around them!
After talking to James and Luke, I RE-realized what we love is not really for everybody. Boys love natural beauty... Ok I understand that. But we are born to look great and feel good. Why can't we dress up like vouge mags models and do our hair pretty. I guess a good balance is important, but girls have to have fun!
Special thanks to James and Luke!
