Packing For Summer

Another year is behind us, and it is time to enjoy the best that New Zealand summer has to offer. Whether you are just going to hang around your hometown, make the migration to the batch or trip overseas, you will need to know what to pack and wear now you can strip off your corporate constraints.

I'll give you slynkey girls a list of summer holiday threads that will cover everything you need, so all you have left to do is relax!

Just because you're going on vacation, doesn't mean you can pull out your old baggy clothes and hope like hell no one you know is on the island with you. Because, let me tell you, there will be someone you know and the last thing you want is to look like an audience member from The Price is Right.

There is no need to forgo your stylish image. These 5 comfortable pieces let you stay in style while letting loose on your sunny escape!

1. A comfortable white shirt.
Get a men's lightweight white business shirt. Or better yet, borrow your partner's. For that sultry siren look, use it as a wrap and tie it with a chunky belt rather than buttoning it up. Wear this look over shorts or if it's long enough by itself with jandals. It'll make your legs look like they go on forever, while giving your top half some cover up

2. Jean Shorts
The perfect combination of summer and sex appeal. Keep your legs cool while showing off your tush in a pair of short jean shorts. Can't find any around that you like? Easy fix - grab a pair of your old jeans you don't wear anymore, hack off the legs (take them off first) and there you have yourself some pre-worn jean shorts. 3. Bright, roomy, maxi dress
A loose fitting dress in a bright color is a hot look every summer. It's so easy to wear and looks great with a fresh natural tan. You can wear it to breakfast lunch and dinner and throw it in the wash for the next day.

You may want to vary it with another one and keep the patterns simple otherwise the hotel staff might pull you aside, take your arms and tell you they're sick of looking at your damn maxi dress. Belt it for a more form-flattering effect. (pictured right - Ooby Ryn Pool Party Dress)

4. Tank Tops
With summer's scorching heat, who needs sleeves? Slap on the suncream and bare all (well, not all but most).Camis, singlets and tanks and the perfect item to pack in you summer bag. They are small, lightweight and come in just about every colour imaginable.

Make sure it's about hip length so it doesn't ride up and flash more tummy than you planned and you can wear it tucked it to high waist or untucked with hipsters. Just because it's cheap as chips doesn't mean you shouldn't try it on either. Make sure it suits you. Flat chested women look great in slash necklines or spaghetti straps, but if you're busty you're better off with a V neck or a scoop, but make sure the straps are sturdy enough to wear a bra with.

5. Skorts
It's a cross between a miniskirt and a pair of shorts. You can flaunt your legs in them and by highlighting your legs, you make them look longer. Skorts offer you the feminine look of a very short skirt without the risk of wardrobe malfunction should you bend over. Wear it with a pair of strappy heels and a classic white tank for a sexy stylish look. A mini sarong will also do the trick when going to and from the pool (as you'll have your suit underneath) - and it beats a towel!
