fox & ferret Shirley
Hello Summer 2010! The sun has been sluggish this year, making a later appearance than expected, but finally it is here and there is only one way to celebrate - by making the most of it!
My favourite things about the sunny season are the long, warm days making sitting outside and relaxing with friends incredibly inviting. Nothing beats the feeling of good food, good drinks and good company. The place to be with your friends and loved ones this summer Christchurch slynkey girls is The Fox and Ferret at The Palms, Shirley.
The Fox, as it is affectionately called, has always been a tried and true favourite for many Cantabrians. There are very few places like The Fox where the crowd is so mixed featuring different ages, and coming from various facets of life, yet can all relax over a delicious iced drink and famous food fare having a fabulous time out.
When I visited The Fox on an early sunny Friday evening the bar and bistro was pumping, and very vibrant. There are many choices of seating, both indoors and outdoors, but due to The Fox's excellent location, guarantying 'eternal sun' from dawn til dusk outside was a very popular place to pull up a seat. Umbrellas and luxe outdoor tables and chairs provided a wonderful place to relax and unwind either for lunch, dinner or a drink - the options are endless - all within the huge sun-drenched courtyard!
As I looked over the menu my eyes were feasting over the extensive menu covering anything and everything you could ever want. An incredibly popular choice is the lengendary 'Stonegrill Menu' where you order your choice of food served on a super hot stone allowing you to watch your food cook in front of you! I heard a rumour that this menu selection is so popular that it is not uncommon for the stones to sell out due to their amazing value.
After my eyes had feasted I made my way to the bar to see a complete range of bottled beers, wines and premium spirits. The Fox has an excellent cocktail list with classics available and also house specialities. After I selected my Pina Colada cocktail with a twist from the menu I took my icey glass outside to resume my seat amidst the sun and summer, ah bliss!
